France
The French market is a major market benefiting from the third largest wind resource in Europe and has enjoyed a steady growth with commitment and continued major
investment for many years.
Chris Hooley got his first practical experience in modelling and optimisation of wind farms with WindSim back in 2002.
Now we are delighted that he is returning to the WindSim team to represent the company in a market he has worked in and seen develop over the past 14 years.
“At the time back in 2002, WindSim was pitched at primarily complex terrain projects and with a view to providing accurate production forecasting and wind
characteristics for given site conditions. Now, it is applied to the whole life-cycle of a wind farm, from initial design and layout, through to the day-to-day
operations management, with power forecasting, yield predictions, backed-up by whole suite of related services and packages, to assist not just the planners and
developers, but perhaps more importantly, the operations management which will be responsible for the majority of the life of wind farm assets, enabling contributing
to optimal and profitable operation. We can assist on this both through our own consultancy services or via partnership and assistance to our clients own specialists",
says Chris Hooley, Business Development Director in WindSim France.

ENERGIX

NowWind
WindSim AS, Norwegian Meteorological Institute and Kjeller Vindtekknik will undertake a common R&D project within short term forecasting, NowWind.
Forecasting of wind energy production and turbine loads for the next hours is highly relevant for energy intraday trading, economic decision making and a
reliable integration of this variable energy source into the electric grid. In NowWind, an integrated nowcast system will be developed, to support wind farm
owners in their decision making. The project will run for three years, it is funded by the Norwegian Research Council under the program ENERGIX.
