User Meeting 2014
|
Reminder
The User Meeting is coming up very soon, but there is still time to register, join us in Tønsberg on the 26-27 June,
REGISTRATION »
Get an update in the recent development from the WindSim team, and from other users telling about their experiences,
and we have social events with a lot of fun. Network with specialists within WRA from EON, Iberdrola, juwi, Senvion,
Siemens, Sorgenia, Statkraft and many more.
AGENDA »
Notice that upfront of the User Meeting we organize training courses, both the basic and the advanced training will take place on the 24-25 June.
Whether you are a new user or an existing user who would like to brush up your knowledge base, take advantage of combining the User
Meeting with a training session.
Some recent software development highlights:
-
CFD procedure - GCV solver
A year ago we launched the GCV solver and the experiences from the users are now ticking in.
Their experiences are in-line with our development target: The GCV has proven to become our most robust solver.
In the current version WindSim 6.2 the setting of the GCV solver was improved further giving increased robustness
and reduced execution time. The GCV solver is supplied by CHAM Ltd.
-
MERRA data for WindSim Express Cloud
WindSim Express was the perfect software to be converted into a Cloud service, because of its user-friendliness.
Positioning turbines and supplying a wind climatology is the only required input.
However, in the early stage of a project, when no measurements are available, reanalysis data will be the only
alternative to supply a wind climatology. At the User Meeting we present the new software WindSim Reanalysis Data Downloader,
creating time series based on MERRA data. This service neatly extends the usage of WindSim Express Cloud towards screening of
potential wind farms.
-
MERRA data for long-term correction
WindSim Reanalysis Data Downloader also creates long-term reference time series to be used for long-term correction.
In the upcoming version of WindSim we have developed a new MCP (Measure Correlate Predict) technique based on ANN (Artificial Neural Network).
-
Queuing
Utilize the available hardware resources in an optimal way, by running multiple projects with the new queuing functionality.
Dynamic Line Rating Solution
|
INL
The U.S. Department of Energy's Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is investigating wind integration
and transmission efficiency gains on existing power lines. The aim is to increase the capacity
by estimating the cooling effect from the wind on the power lines. Simply because a hot power line reaches its
capacity limit before a cold power line. WindSim's forecasting technology on the micro-scale is an integrated
part of the Dynamic Line Rating Solution. For further information contact

Wake models
|
Industrial PhD
Nikolaos Simisiroglou has started an industrial PhD in WindSim AS. He is enrolled at Uppsala University Campus Gotland with
Stefan Ivanell as supervisor.
The aim of his study is to establish accurate wake models based on CFD. The models will be used to optimize the position of each turbine within
a wind farm in order to reduce the wake losses. For further information contact
